Can Momentum trade or withdraw with the key?

No, and that is a technical matter rather than one of trust. A Bybit key carries its permissions with it. If you grant read access only and leave trading and withdrawals switched off, Bybit rejects every other kind of request at its own end. That is exactly the configuration described in the guide above.

Is there a CSV import for Bybit?

No. Bybit is API only by design, because the endpoint returns closed positions with the result already calculated and does not need repeating for every new period. A file upload would be a step backwards compared with a connection that keeps itself current.

Are older trades imported too?

The first sync pulls the available history and every sync after that only adds what is new. How far back that history reaches is decided by Bybit through the endpoint, not by Momentum. For older periods the API no longer serves, the generic CSV import with manual column mapping remains an option.

What happens if I delete the key at Bybit?

The next sync fails and stops. Trades that were already imported stay in your journal in full, since they do not depend on the key. You can add a new key whenever you like, and the sync resumes and fills in whatever accumulated in the meantime.

Are spot and futures counted separately?

Both land in the same journal and can be analysed together or apart. Apart is often more useful: spot has no leverage and no funding costs while futures has both, so a single win rate spanning the two says less than two separate views.

Yes, through a read only API connection. You create an API key at Bybit with read permissions only, add it once, and your trades sync automatically from then on. Spot trades are covered alongside futures in their USDT, USDC and coin margined variants.

What Bybit returns through the API

Futures and spot come from different endpoints. For futures Bybit returns finished closed positions including the realised result; for spot it returns individual executions that are grouped into positions.

What to watch out for with Bybit

Three things regularly cost time during setup because they are easy to miss in the Bybit interface.

Without "Unified Trading" the sync stays empty

Bybit asks for an account type when you create the key. If you do not pick "Unified Trading", the key is technically valid but points at a different account and returns no positions. The sync then reports no error at all, just zero trades, which is hard to trace back.

You see the API secret exactly once

Bybit displays the secret immediately after creation and never again. Close that page without copying and you have to delete the key and start over. Copy the key and secret straight away and paste them in directly rather than parking them somewhere in between.

Read only is the safeguard, not a compromise

A key without trading and withdrawal rights is technically incapable of doing anything except reading data. Even if it fell into the wrong hands, nobody could trade or withdraw with it. That is why restricting it to read access is a requirement here rather than a suggestion.

Leverage distorts any comparison with your spot trades

A futures trade at twenty times leverage and a spot trade of the same notional size carry completely different risk, yet they sit next to each other in a plain profit comparison. Analysing by R multiple, which factors in the risk taken, says far more than looking at the currency amount alone.

Which metrics matter in crypto trading

In futures trading the result is not built from entry and exit alone. Leverage, distance to liquidation and funding costs all contribute, and on positions held for longer funding is no rounding error. An analysis that only shows profit per trade quietly drops that side of the ledger.

The more telling numbers include risk: R multiple per trade, profit factor, and the largest drop from your account peak. They answer whether your result is repeatable or whether it rests on a few lucky positions.

If you trade on other exchanges alongside Bybit, one more thing follows. Only a combined view shows whether an exchange genuinely performs better or whether you simply trade different setups there. Symbols are normalised across exchanges for exactly that reason, so BTC positions stay comparable.
